Sam has been playing Piano Accordion for fourteen years and started playing with The Barleycorn Band.  He then met up with Bill and joined the band Shananikins.
A founder member of the award-winning band 422, Sam scooped top honours at the BBC Young Folk Awards in 1999. He then went on to showcase with 422 on the main stage at Cambridge Folk Festival and to perform at the prestigious Tonder festival in Denmark.
